Printing News from the Boutique Exhibition of Print China 2011

The initial version of this year's "Boutique Exhibition", or more precisely the 5th "China Boutique Presswork Exhibition & Trade Fair" (China Presswork 2011), was first held during the 2007 China (Guangdong) International Printing Technology Exhibition, with the dual aims of providing a platform for printing service providers and equipment suppliers to communicate with each other, and of forming a benign interaction in the printing industrial chain during the exhibition. This year’s Boutique Exhibition covers over 6,000m2, with 5,500 m2 on the second floor of Hall 5 and a part of Hall 7, a historic high in terms of floorspace. In terms of functional areas, the Exhibition is divided as follows: the Area for "China Print Award” Winners, and areas for Printing Industry Bases, Top 100 Printing Enterprises, Art Duplication & Digital Photography, Flexo Works, a Playing Card Expo, Digital Prints and Post-press/Folding Works in Pavilion 7.

The initial“China Print Awards”was jointly hosted by the Printing and Printing Equipment Industries Association of China, the Hong Kong Printers Association, the Taiwan Printing Industry Association and the Macao Printing Chamber of Commerce in 2006. In 2011 the area set aside for the exhibition of winners is more than 300m2 and is divided into five parts: publishing and commercial printing, package printing, digital printing, screen and specialty printing and securities anti-counterfeiting printing, which basically covers all the fields of presswork. This year’s Awards have received nearly 1,000 pieces of work, mainly from the 25 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government in the Chinese mainland, plus the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan areas. Additionally, there are also excellent works from Chinese-owned printing companies in Southeast Asian countries such as the Philippines, Malaysia, and others.

The works represent the top level of presswork in the Chinese mainland and the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan areas, covering all printing fields such as book & periodical printing, package printing, label printing, digital printing, screen printing, and others.

In the exhibition area set aside for local provinces and cities, Guangdong Province plays a leading role, with local printing associations and the Press & Publication Bureaus of Dongguan, Zhongshan, Shenzhen, Foshan, Shunde and Huizhou taking part in the exhibition as a group. Also, some well-known companies such as the Shenzhen Industrial Park of International Creative Printing Culture, Fung Choi Media Group, Leo Paper Printing Co., Ltd., C&C Joint Printing (Guangdong) Co., Ltd. and Shenzhen C&C Security Printing Co., Ltd. have joined the exhibition on their own. The exhibition area for printing companies from Guangdong Province accounts for 53% of the China Excellent Prints Exhibition & Trade Fair, demonstrating the key position of Guangdong Province in the printing industry in China.

It is particularly noteworthy that an exhibition area for works of art has been set up this time to present the "Dongguan Masters’ Digital Photographic Art Exhibition” jointly organized by the Dongguan Photographers Association and PEIAC International Exhibition Company, The exhibition contains both the original hundred-meter long scroll drawing of "Beijing-Shanghai Express Railway", brought specially by the well-known Beijing Fenghuangling Art Museum, and “Chinese Painting Masterpieces Coming to Dongguan”, consisting of more than 80 famous works from traditional Chinese Painting masters. During the exhibition, there will also be “PEIAC Cup Photography Contest”, welcoming the participation of master photographers, exhibitors and the audience. Art lectures will also be held to promote exchanges and interaction on the topic of art duplication between artists and printing equipment suppliers.

In addition, on the second floor of Pavilion 5, there is “Printing Education Exhibition Area”. During this year's exhibition, there is an area set aside specifically for printing education. The exhibitors consist of 21 higher institutes with printing departments, such as the Beijing Institute of Graphic Communication, and institutes from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao and 15 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities directly under the central government. There is a complete display of the facilities provided by the training institutes of Chinese printing industry technology research and printing personnel, introducing printing education to the society and recommending printing talents to companies, rejuvenating the industry through science and education, and driving the independent innovation and sustainable development of the Chinese printing industry through exhibition and exchanges.

The exhibition area, exhibitors and exhibition range of the 5th China Boutique Presswork Exhibition & Trade Fair (China Presswork 2011) set new records. All exhibitors and attendees will benefit from the exhibition.
